Horses as therapy

Horsemanship can provide valuable therapeutic experiences for adults and children with special needs. Therapy incorporating horses engages sensory, neuromotor, and cognitive body systems, and benefits the patient as a whole. In addition to writing for clinical publications that support this unique treatment method, I have spent over 7 years in leadership roles as a facilitator of therapeutic horseback riding sessions. I am now working toward full certification as a therapeutic riding instructor.
